Become a PADI Scuba Instructor in Thailand: 16-Day Instructor Development Course in Koh Samui
Our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a comprehensive program designed to prepare you for a successful career as a PADI Instructor. This 16-day course offers a balanced mix of online workshops and in-water training, giving you flexibility and practical hands-on experience in two of Thailand’s premier diving destinations: Koh Samui and Koh Tao.

- 8 Days of Online Workshops (3 Hours Daily)
- 8 Days of In-Water Training & Practical Application
- 2-Day PADI Instructor Examination (IE)
Day 1-8: Online Instructor Development Workshops (3 Hours per Day)
Begin your PADI IDC journey with 8 days of online interactive workshops that provide the flexibility of learning from anywhere in the world. Each session is 3 hours long and focuses on building the theoretical foundation of your diving instructor education. Topics covered include:
- Dive Theory and Physics
- PADI Standards and Procedures
- Risk Management and Diver Safety
- Teaching Techniques and Methods for Confined Water and Open Water
- Business of Diving: Dive Center Operations, Marketing, and Career Development
These sessions are ideal for digital nomads or professionals who want to begin their IDC while maintaining other commitments.
2 day break – ‘Enjoy the weekend’
This two day break is for those attending remotely to travel to Koh Samui. If you are are already in Samui, you can spend the weekend diving or practising your skills.
This is a great opportunity for networking and observing the Silent Divers operations team. Spend some time with the team to learn and ask questions.
Day 9-16: In-Water & On-Location Training (Koh Samui)
After completing the online theory, you’ll dive into 8 days of hands-on training in the beautiful waters of Koh Samui. This portion of the course allows you to practice and refine your skills under the guidance of our experienced PADI Course Directors and dive instructors. Here’s what you’ll cover:
- Confined Water Teaching Presentations
- Open Water Teaching Simulations
- Rescue Demonstrations and Emergency Management
- Developing Instructor-Level Dive Skills
- Leading and Supervising Divers in Real-Life Scenarios
You’ll also experience the area’s stunning underwater landscapes, helping you become confident in leading divers in both confined and open water environments.
Day 17-18: PADI Instructor Examination (Koh Samui)
Your journey culminates with the official PADI Instructor Examination (IE) in Koh Samui. The IE consists of evaluations in theory, confined water skills, open water presentations, and rescue demonstrations.
Once successfully completed, you’ll be certified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, ready to teach and inspire the next generation of divers.
How much does it cost to complete the PADI IDC?
Total cost all-in will be around 108,000 THB (Thai Baht), this includes all PADI materials, fees, online workshops and in-water/on-location training.
